The allure of vocals and the magic of musical instruments are what make every music festival in our land truly captivating. However, it is the celebration of independent creativity that distinguishes the International Independent Music Festival, hosted by the Kerala Arts and Crafts Village in Kovalam. While music festivals are widespread, this institution is unique, being the first of its kind to dedicate a festival entirely to independent music.
The Kerala Arts and Crafts Village, managed by the renowned Uralungal Labour Contract Cooperative Society, embodies the rich artistic heritage of South India. Spanning 8.5 acres in a serene rural setting, it serves as a vibrant hub for cultural exchange, blending tradition with modernity. The village revitalizes traditional craftsmanship through festivals, workshops, and markets, drawing in over 20 acclaimed artists. Supported by Kerala Tourism, this institution not only preserves but also celebrates the region's artistic excellence, making it a beacon of authenticity and cultural pride.
